Sienna Miller's chic bob to the Miu Miu gown,I loved it.
(see: Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain for two perfect specimens.) But unlike last year's Golden Globes red carpet, which featured several strong beauty trends, this year it was all about individuality.
Here, the most noteworthy, non-boring hair at the 2015 Golden Globes, courtesy of Emma Stone, Keira Knightley, Lorde, Jared Leto (duh) and more.
EMMA STONE
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY'S SPARKLY FEATHER
Keira Knightley's bug-covered Chanel gown was not a hit (full disclosure: I really liked it 'cause it's Chanel.Duh.), but no one can say one bad thing about her hair. I dare them to! Anyway, to get the volume and texture, hair stylist Ben Skervin used Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse and blow dried with a round brush. He then took two-inch sections, sprayed them with hair spray and wrapped the sections around a 1-inch barrel curling iron. Then he spayed dry shampoo, formed a ponytail, then twisted that into a loose bun. He then added that diamond Chanel feather, which you probably can't get at Target, sorry.
All about the braids (for some)
Two lovely English roses, Emily Blunt and Joanne Froggatt (aka Anna from"Downton Abbey"
), both wore different, yet equally delightful, crown braids. Hair stylist Laini Reeves prepped Blunt's hair with Malin + Goetz Sage Styling Cream, power dried the hair, and did an "inside out" braid, which she crossed at the nape of the neck. Froggatt's appears to be a more traditional milkmaid braid, accessorized with some messy face-framing pieces and perfect brows. It's nice to see her out of Anna's dowdy maid's knots.
LORDE
Hair stylist Gavin Harwin straightened the crap out of Lorde's mop of hair (presumably, because Harwin wasn't very forthcoming about his technique on his Instagram) and cinched it with some black fabric, for the best ponytail of the night. (Sorry, Katie Holmes.) And while I realize Lorde has a LOOK, this softer, red-lipped makeup really suits her.
KATE MARA'S SHORT HALF UPDO
Kate Mara is another Mara Roszak client, but this hair got a few more "WTFs" on social media than Emma Stone's did. But I think it's a really clever way to showcase a red carpet style on short hair. Roszak used a smoothing shampoo, then sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray prior to drying hair straight. She then straightened it with a flat iron, made a tiny ponytail, and wrapped a piece of hair over it.
THE GOLDEN GLOBES HAIR WINNER......

"Most Hyperbolic Hair Moment" goes to Sienna Miller, who's come blazing back to red carpets with this perfect cool-girl messy bob
that's sure to inspire a thousand tutorials, at least if the reaction on Twitter is anything to go by. (At least I hope it will, because I want to try it.) Hair stylist Jenny Cho made a deep side part on Miller's towel dried hair, misted on Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Weightless Blow Dry Spray, then blow dried with a paddle brush. She made waves with a curling iron, then broke up the curl by spritzing on some dry shampoo, then oil spray to the ends.
BOLD UPDOS
Ava DuVernay, the director of "Selma," went for a bear claw, while Kate Beckinsale channeled a croissant. Both high. Both chic. Both delicious.
SIGNATURE AND SEARCHING
Here's an example of experimentation gone right and a signature look gone wrong. In the off-season from filming "Girls," Mamet has been playing around with her hair color, going from platinum to grey to what I am going to call a "flat white" color (in honor of Starbucks' new drink), all to great affect. The ashy, grey-blonde really suits her, and her color shape-shifting has been fun to watch. On the other hand, Lana Del Rey has a look that she usually sticks with, but this time the '60s chanteuse thing is possibly a bit too pumped up, garnering her comparisons to Elvira and Priscilla Presley on social media. Let's see something new, Lana.
ALLISON WILLIAMS
It's always a safe bet to channel old Hollywood via va-va-voom waves, but Allison Williams' waves looked a bit too sculpted here or something. Her hair moved all in one piece. Makeup, however, is absolutely stunning.
