Review : Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque

Hi ! I am back again with another review. This time I am going to reviewing a masque : Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque .

WHAT : Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque at Rs 1350 or $19.71 for 28 ml.

DESCRIPTION :
  • This protective facial masque helps defend and replenish with hydration,
  • Reduces the visible signs of pollution such as dull, unhealthy looking skin.
  • Formulated with Cilantro and Orange Extract,
  • masque protects skin against environmental aggressors while helping to prevent pollutants from adhering to skin.
  • With continued use, skin looks renewed, radiant and protected.
First impressions..the mask comes in a glass tub with a white screw-on cap. That's it .There's also a long list of ingredients at the bottom of the tub.

Open sesame,er..open..opening the cap..the mask is very smooth, mint colored and has the consistency of a face gel or face cream .The mask gives a cooling sensation on applying but no 'tingling' sensation. The smell is apt - it is of freshly cut cilantro with a hint of citrus- which I found very refreshing and calming .

What I saw after....was :

  • My face looked rejuvenated. It restores skin ,leaves it hydrated and healthy. It is perfect after a long day outside when pollution can clog your pores and make your skin dull and unhealthy.
  • The masque doesn't leave my skin dry or make it break out.
  • It can be washed off without making a mess .
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • Free of parabens
  • Easily available online or in stores.

P.S. :  The masque contains AHA or Alpha Hydroxy acid which extremely good for our skin but it increases sun sensitivity. So,beware and never go without sunscreen .Even during winter when you don't see the sun !

Verdict :

Use it ! It is expensive but all of the products from the brand are but this masque is worth it.Try the 28ml jar instead of the 75ml one. I wholly recommend it.

Post Topic : Skincare

Hey everyone ! So,once again it's time for a mad dash to buy gifts for you and your dear ones for christmas!

This post is about skincare ,specifically my skincare , a.k.a my routine .

Firstly, cleansing. Since I had acne , I have a constant fear of my skin breaking out . So,I religiously use Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, For Normal to Oily Skin, 16 Ounce (Pack of 2) , recommended by my dermatologist .Those who have dry skin can use LANCOME's Creme-Mousse Confort Comforting Cleanser Creamy Foam (Dry Skin).

Second, exfoliation. I usually exfoliate 2-3 times a week .I use Avene's Eau Thermale Avène Cleanance Mask, 1.69 oz.

Third,(in the morning) :I apply Sunscreen.I don't apply a moisturizer or anything because my skin is very oily .I apply Eau Thermale Avène SPF 50 Plus Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion.

Night Routine :

First ,I cleanse my face with the cleanser and then ....I apply ice cubes all over my face .

Next,I apply Retin-A:it is a topical cream prescribed by health professionals only. If you are aware with Retin-A(your doctor prescribed it for you) ,use it as instructed. If not,use creams containing "retinol" : it is one of the 'animal' forms of Vitamin A.I will discuss more about Retinol, later on .

Retin-A or retinol creams can make you too sensitive after a time but it is worth it.My skin is even and free of acne .However,I like to switch up a routine a bit by applying a overnight mask sometimes.I like glycolic acid masks or any hydrating overnight masks (there's a link at the bottom of this post).

As for the rest of my body,I moisturize my legs, hands(sometimes hips and stomach) with St. Ives Nourish & Soothe, Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Lotion

Finally,Vaseline on my lips and voila

So,I know there might be a lots of products I am missing .There are other skin types as well. I have done my best to suggest products for those who have oily skin. If you want to buy the products,I suggest that you do your beauty shopping now because of the holiday sales.

Tip : Shop through Ebates.com ,you can get really great cash backs for stores like Amazon,strawberrynet.com..

If you haven't heard of Strawberrynet.com,click the banner posted on the top right hand corner of the blog post and new customers will get $15 OFF.

Yo College Gals!

College is stressful.Period.Yeah,that is one word for it!
For us girls, fitting all of our beauty products into that tiny dorm room is more stressful. In order to cram all the brushes and blushes into that space, you’ve got to get a little creative. These five organization hacks will make it happen.Scroll down to see those hacks...

Use thy wall space

Dorm rooms are tiny, but they do offer plenty of wall space—use it. Since you can’t take a hammer and nails to those dorm room walls, 3M Command Hooks ($8) are your new best friends. Put up a few low and out of sight and hang your styling tools from them. You’ll not only save space but also keep those cords neat and tidy.

Hang an Organizer

Hang an Organizer

If your makeup collection is in danger of taking over your entire desk, it’s time to enlist the help of a hanging organizer. Those hanging makeup bags designed for travel are a great option. A hanging clear plastic shoe rack is another good choice for keeping all of your lipsticks and luminizers orderly. For larger items, DIY a hanging organizer with buckets, rope, and, yes, a Command Hook. See the how-to on Lipstick.com.

Keep Brushes in a Straw Dispenser

Keep Brushes in a Straw Dispenser
Keep all of your makeup brushes visible, easy to access, and dust-free by storing them a clear straw dispenser. It’s more clean and compact than that old brush case you’ve been toting around.

Stack Styling Products on a Wine Rack

Get organized and save space by stacking your texture sprays, root lifters, and volumizing mousses on a wine rack. No more reaching blindly into a bin, grabbing cap after cap until you find the hairspray you were looking for (because we know you have several)

Stand Palettes Upright

Stand Palettes Upright

If you’re a palette junkie, display them proudly like books. Rather than stacking them on top of each other and not being able to see what’s hiding in that pile, line them up upright and use a bookend or your file organizer to hold them in place. This way you’ll know exactly which Naked Palette you’re grabbing.

Please Comment below! And Good Luck to all the Students of year '19 !!

Beauty Woes : How to Choose The Right Foundation ?

The foundation..is one of the most important part of one's makeup.
Yes..more most of us,choosing a foundation isn't THAT vital. But in order to look ,well ...like a person who has their S%#T together, you might want to read this guide which will give you a better understanding on how to choose between different foundations out there.Scroll down...

Liquid Foundation

Use :
If you want blendable makeup with lots of options, this must be your choice. Liquid foundations offer the most shade ranges, finishes (natural, matte, and dewy), and coverage (sheer, medium, and full). Plus, once you figure out how many drops or pumps you need, your morning routine will be a no-brainer!

How To Apply :
Dab foundation onto your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin; then blend out with soft strokes using a brush. If your foundation comes with a pump or eye dropper, use one pump or drop for sheer coverage and two for medium. It's fine to blend liquid foundation with your fingers instead of a brush, but steer clear of sponges that absorb too much of the product.

Picks :

Tinted Moisturizer:

theBalm BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer SPF 18, Light/Medium, 2.5 fl. oz.

Use :
If you want to enhance your skin tone, and have dry skin with not much redness or sun damage to cover, use this type of foundation. Tinted moisturizer gives you a little bit of moisture, a little bit of color, and sometimes a little bit of sun protection. It'll cut down on your getting-ready time and the number of products you need to use. Because it's a two-in-one product, though, you won't get as strong of an impact as you would by using separate products for moisturizing and foundation.

Bienfait Teinté Beauty Balm

How To Apply :
Use your fingertips to apply it, as you would a face lotion, or use a foundation brush for a more precise application. If your skin is extra dry, you can also layer tinted moisturizer over your regular moisturizer.

My Picks:

BB Cream:

BB creams may be all the rage, but they're still a mystery to most people. What exactly are they? ELLE.com tapped dermatologist Dr. Sung-Jae Jung, MD (and founder of cult favorite Dr. Jart+) on what the mystery creams do and who would benefit the most from them (hint: it's everyone).
Dr. Jart BB cream; $34; amazon.com

Use :

If you want sheer-to-medium coverage and skin-boosting ingredients all in one, then this is it. Think of BB creams as multivitamins for your face; they usually contain sunscreen, moisturizer, color, and anti-aging ingredients. But if you need extra hydration or sunspot correction, you might need to layer yours on top of a serum or moisturizer,or both!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector SPF 30, Light- 1 fl oz

How To Apply :
Dot the product onto the five key points of the face: forehead, nose, each cheek, and chin. Blend out with fingertips, a wet sponge, or a brush. For a more natural finish, hold the brush at the end instead of near the bristles.

My Picks:

CC Cream :

Use :

If you want to even out your skin tone but prefer a more sheer coverage than a BB cream, use this. CC, or "color correcting," creams are designed to enhance skin tone. Like BB creams, they can address multiple concerns like sun protection and provide additional hydration. Because the rich pigments in foundation can look too yellow, pink, or grey on porcelain skin, a CC cream can be the right option for evening out a fair complexion without unnaturally tinting it. Although CC creams are generally great for hiding redness, if you have severe discoloration (from rosacea or melasma, for example), you may want to use a medium-coverage foundation instead.

How To Apply :
Apply these the same way you would a BB cream: Dot the product onto the five key points of the face (forehead, nose, each cheek, and chin) and blend with your fingers or a brush.

My Picks:

Stick Foundation:

Use :

If you want moderate coverage—fast. The solid texture of stick foundations makes them great for makeup artists, expert makeup-appliers, and people who like to contour. They are especially great for women with darker skin tones who like to wear a brighter shade in the center of the face and a deeper shade towards the hairline.
Polka Dots & Moonbeams

How To Apply :
For medium coverage, sweep a brush across the stick itself, and buff the makeup on where needed. For full coverage or precise contouring, press and drag the product directly onto the face, then blend it in with broad strokes of a foundation brush, or by tapping it in with your fingers or a wet sponge for a fresher finish. If you're using two different shades, use the lighter color under your eyes, across your cheekbones, down the center of your nose, chin, and center of your forehead. Then use the darker one under the cheekbones, down the sides of the nose, and along the hairline.

My Picks:

e.l.f. Studio Moisturizing Foundation Stick($6)

Ilia Illuminator in Polka Dots and Moonbeams($34)

Solid Cream Compact Foundation

Use :

If you're looking for versatile coverage and like to touch up on the go,then use it. The solid texture of a cream compact foundation is similar to that of a concealer, but the fact that it can lay flat in a compact means it's often softer and moister than stick makeup. These creams are also super easy to layer, so you can get a sheer finish or build it up where you need more coverage. Most cream formulas, however, need translucent powder to help them stay in place.

How To Apply :
Creams are the one time you can use a sponge without wasting the product, but you want to avoid dragging the sponge across your face, which can make the makeup look heavy. Instead, use the sponge to pat on the foundation and then buff it smooth with a fluffy powder brush or kabuki brush.

My Picks:

Soft Cream Foundation

 Use :

If you want medium-to-full coverage and have dry skin. Soft cream foundations have a similar, luxurious texture to a rich face cream. Depending on the formula, though, one of these foundations might not sheer out quite as easily as a liquid one.

Crème Smooth Foundation

How To Apply :
For the sheerest finish, use a wet sponge to dab the product all over the face. Blend with your fingers or a brush if needed. For medium coverage, apply with a foundation brush instead of a sponge.

My Picks:

Loose Mineral Powder Foundation:

Amazonian clay full coverage airbrush foundation

Use :

If you're prone to breakouts, looking for medium-to-full coverage, and don't need to take your foundation everywhere you go. The majority of mineral foundations are dry and can't add any moisture to skin, making them better for those with combination or normal skin. Many formulas contain minerals like mica (used to create shimmer eyeshadow) and titanium dioxide (a sunscreen that's also used as a white pigment), which means most shade ranges tend to be on the lighter side.

How To Apply :
Swirl your brush in the powder, tap off the excess, and buff into the skin using circular motions, working outward. Make sure that any products you use on top of powder foundation are also powder-based. Cream products can look blotchy and cake-y.

My picks:

Powder Compact Foundation:

Use :

You want a matte finish with full coverage. Powder foundations are easy to use, and the finishes are usually matte, meaning you can skip the setting powder. Just be sure not to confuse the two, which look identical in the package. Setting powders are supposed to be worn over foundation, but using powder foundation over other makeup can make it look cake-y. The exception? If you're trying to hide discoloration (redness, sun damage, rosacea, vitiligo, blemishes, or others), you can layer powder foundation over a liquid or cream for an extra layer of coverage.

How To Apply :
Applied with a dry sponge, powder foundation offers medium to full coverage. If you use a powder brush, the results can be lightweight and sheer.

Airbrush Foundation:

Use :

If you want medium coverage that will. not. budge. Seriously, if it's 100 degrees on your wedding day, this is the option for you. What it does: A compressor puts pressurized air through a gun to finely spray makeup over the face. Because there are no brushes or sponges, you're almost guaranteed an even finish. That said, results depend on the makeup formula and the expertise of the person applying it, so if you're getting it done by a pro, ask to see pictures of her work and/or book a trial run.

How To Apply :
If you opt to DIY your airbrush foundation, the makeup-artist-approved Temptu system is essential. Close your eyes, press back on the trigger, and apply in a circular motion all over the face. It might take practice to know how much to apply, but the cool breeze helps you to "feel it out." Start with a thin veil and repeat as needed.

My picks:

Spray Foundation:

Use :

You want the look of airbrush makeup everyday, without the hassle. These canisters spray a lightweight, fine mist of makeup that results in sheer-to-medium coverage. Unlike traditional makeup, though, you have less control of where the makeup goes or how much you put on, so be sure to practice, or use the application method on the following .

How To Apply :
For the neatest, most precise application, lay down a tissue, spray the makeup onto a kabuki brush and buff it all over your face. This technique also works for body makeup if you swap out the kabuki brush for a big fluffy body one.

My Picks :

Cushion-Compact Foundation:

Miracle Cushion

Use :

You like the texture of a liquid makeup but want to apply it on the go. Expect light-to-medium coverage that's easily buildable and packaging that makes it easy to toss in your bag without worrying about spills.

How To Apply :
Most cushion compacts come with an applicator that you press into the sponge to soak up the foundation. You can use the applicator to dab and blend the foundation on your face, applying more pressure and product where you need extra coverage.

My Picks :

BEAUTY : Makeup Trend Spotted At MTV Movie Awards 2015

One of most spotted and major trends from MTV Movie Awards red carpet last night was something very spring-favourable.Light,romantic makeup,oh-so date-night-friendly-candlelit eyeshadow..

What that means: eyeshadow that's a bit hazy and faded and catches the light so that your eyes look like you're sitting over a candle—even in daylight.
Scroll down to see what I mean ..........

Cara Delevingne's soft maroon shadow hinted at the color of her dress and gave her a romantic vibe.

Jennifer Lopez's bronze eyeshadow made her glow like a goddess.

And Scarlett Johansson's tawny lids warmed up her whole look.

 scarlett-johansson-mtv-movie-awards-2015-eye-makeup

A theatrical versions of this look was seen this year at the Marc Jacobs show, where the models sported striking taupe lids. Translated into real life, the effect is soft and glowing and even a little bit flirty—oh, and apparently MTV-friendly.

One shortcut to getting this look is to look for shimmery (not glittery) rose gold eye shadow—it's the universally flattering shade in this family. Two to give a goMAC's Pigment in Rose Gold and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Rose Gold.
