Review : Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque

Hi ! I am back again with another review. This time I am going to reviewing a masque : Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque .

WHAT : Kiehl’s Cilantro and Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque at Rs 1350 or $19.71 for 28 ml.

DESCRIPTION :
  • This protective facial masque helps defend and replenish with hydration,
  • Reduces the visible signs of pollution such as dull, unhealthy looking skin.
  • Formulated with Cilantro and Orange Extract,
  • masque protects skin against environmental aggressors while helping to prevent pollutants from adhering to skin.
  • With continued use, skin looks renewed, radiant and protected.
First impressions..the mask comes in a glass tub with a white screw-on cap. That's it .There's also a long list of ingredients at the bottom of the tub.

Open sesame,er..open..opening the cap..the mask is very smooth, mint colored and has the consistency of a face gel or face cream .The mask gives a cooling sensation on applying but no 'tingling' sensation. The smell is apt - it is of freshly cut cilantro with a hint of citrus- which I found very refreshing and calming .

What I saw after....was :

  • My face looked rejuvenated. It restores skin ,leaves it hydrated and healthy. It is perfect after a long day outside when pollution can clog your pores and make your skin dull and unhealthy.
  • The masque doesn't leave my skin dry or make it break out.
  • It can be washed off without making a mess .
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • Free of parabens
  • Easily available online or in stores.

P.S. :  The masque contains AHA or Alpha Hydroxy acid which extremely good for our skin but it increases sun sensitivity. So,beware and never go without sunscreen .Even during winter when you don't see the sun !

Verdict :

Use it ! It is expensive but all of the products from the brand are but this masque is worth it.Try the 28ml jar instead of the 75ml one. I wholly recommend it.

REVIEW : DOVE Regenerative Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

WHAT : Dove Advanced Hair Series Shampoo  and Conditioner (240 ml approx)
PRICE : $4.99 each or Rs 250 each.

DESCRIPTION :
  •  Healthy Hair by regeneration
  • The hair is supple and strong as undamaged hair
  • With inspired by nature red algae complex for deep-acting care
  • Eliminates the signs of damaged hair and gives the hair valuable nutrients back
  • Repairs on damaged hair , for example, if damaged by dyeing or heat
  • Suitable for daily use
  • The unique formula with red seaweeds complex and Keratin Repair System strengthens damaged hair from the inside and the outside to give your hair its healthy appearance and its suppleness back – almost as if it had never been damaged.
We always hear biological "components" such as Red Algae or sea weed incorporated in our creams, face wash or (as in this post) in shampoos and conditioners. But what other ingredients are there in this duo ?

Ingredients list :

SHAMPOO:

Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Chloride, , Glycerin, Acrylates/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Copolymer, Amodimethicone, C10-40 Isoalkylamidopropylethyldimonium Ethosulfate, Carrageenan, Cetrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Cocamide MEA, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Dimethyl Palmitamine, Dipropylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Gluconolactone, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Methylarachidic Acid, Methylisothiazolinone, Mica, Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-4, PEG-45M, Phenoxyethanol, Poloxamer 407, PPG-12, Propylene Glycol, Silica, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Sulfate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, TEA-Sulfate, Trehalose, Trideceth-12, Xanthan Gum, ButylphenylMethylpropional, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, CI 77891.

CONDITIONER :

Aqua (Water), Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, C10-40 Isoalkylamidopropylethyldimonium Ethosulfate, Carrageenan, Cetrimonium Chloride, Dipropylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Gluconolactone, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Lactic Acid, Methylarachidic Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-7 Propylheptyl Ether, Phenoxyethanol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Sulfate, Trehalose, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool.

Well, yes you know the ingredients present in them ,do you want to try the duo ? Let's see my take on them :

First impressions ... The tubes definitely looked like they belonged in a spa-with their glossy finish, red cap.

Open sesame,er..open..opening cap..
I squeeze out an amount appropriate for my hair length(just below my shoulder) ,then shampoo and rinse ,and then after applying the conditioner from the middle of my hair to the ends ,I wait for 3-5 times and then rinse it out .

My hair type : wavy, but not over-processed.Frizzy now.
(my hair is very moody)

What I saw....was :

  • no change in my hair-fall
  • There's an amazing smell coming out of my hair,it's a fresh and fruity smell.
  • The consistency of the product is creamy and spreads well .
  • However,I don't see that much of smoothness in my hair in the first try,at least.
Verdict :

Use it if :
  • you have colored ,damaged(but not over processed hair)
  • you want a shampoo and conditioner that has "algae and keratin" complex which is great for your hair and you are broke.
Don't use it if :
  •  you have bleached,over-processed hair.
  • want a glossy,shiny mane.
  • have money and want the best in the market
Overall,I think this duo of shampoo and conditioner is quite good-effective and albeit, cheap.I do recommend that you try it.

Down below,I have included links for this duo and other shampoo and conditioners for your beloved hair.

Post Topic : Skincare

Hey everyone ! So,once again it's time for a mad dash to buy gifts for you and your dear ones for christmas!

This post is about skincare ,specifically my skincare , a.k.a my routine .

Firstly, cleansing. Since I had acne , I have a constant fear of my skin breaking out . So,I religiously use Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, For Normal to Oily Skin, 16 Ounce (Pack of 2) , recommended by my dermatologist .Those who have dry skin can use LANCOME's Creme-Mousse Confort Comforting Cleanser Creamy Foam (Dry Skin).

Second, exfoliation. I usually exfoliate 2-3 times a week .I use Avene's Eau Thermale Avène Cleanance Mask, 1.69 oz.

Third,(in the morning) :I apply Sunscreen.I don't apply a moisturizer or anything because my skin is very oily .I apply Eau Thermale Avène SPF 50 Plus Hydrating Sunscreen Lotion.

Night Routine :

First ,I cleanse my face with the cleanser and then ....I apply ice cubes all over my face .

Next,I apply Retin-A:it is a topical cream prescribed by health professionals only. If you are aware with Retin-A(your doctor prescribed it for you) ,use it as instructed. If not,use creams containing "retinol" : it is one of the 'animal' forms of Vitamin A.I will discuss more about Retinol, later on .

Retin-A or retinol creams can make you too sensitive after a time but it is worth it.My skin is even and free of acne .However,I like to switch up a routine a bit by applying a overnight mask sometimes.I like glycolic acid masks or any hydrating overnight masks (there's a link at the bottom of this post).

As for the rest of my body,I moisturize my legs, hands(sometimes hips and stomach) with St. Ives Nourish & Soothe, Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Lotion

Finally,Vaseline on my lips and voila

So,I know there might be a lots of products I am missing .There are other skin types as well. I have done my best to suggest products for those who have oily skin. If you want to buy the products,I suggest that you do your beauty shopping now because of the holiday sales.

Tip : Shop through Ebates.com ,you can get really great cash backs for stores like Amazon,strawberrynet.com..

Fall Beauty Haul : Part 1

Fall is here ! Or,not.Blame Global Warming but, what the hell..I am ready with my credit cards for my "Fall Beauty Haul".Since the season is changing,we all need to update your beauty products as we do our clothes.SPF is always a constant but there are also lots of hydration needed for our pretty and fragile skin. Here's what I will be shopping from Amazon.com.

1.) Shiseido’s lifting eye cream : Perfect for the eyelids because they will definitely need a bit of pampering in the dry weather. A fool-proof treatment that will fit in your pocket.

2.) Aphogee Two-step Treatment Protein for Damaged Hair : I have heard rave reviews about this product and I am excited to try it.I have damaged, weak hair due to dyeing it and a protein treatment is just what my hair strands need . I recommend this product to anyone who has damaged, weak hair to try it but do not overdo it .Too much protein can dry out your hair !

3.) TIGI Pro Reconstructing Shampoo and Conditioner for Damaged Dry Weak Hair Combo Bundle (1 Shampoo / 1 Conditioner) ($15.99 @ amazon.com) : So,TIGI is one of my favorite brands and it is cheap as well(I think so!) and since it is time for me to restock my bathroom supplies ,I choose go with this duo. Once again, this is an awesome brand and this duo is perfect for those have over-processed,damaged or weak hair.

4.) L'Oreal Paris Cosmetics Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss, Forbidden Kiss, 0.21 Fluid Ounce($6.81 @ amazon.com) : Going out ? Do opt for matte blue-based berry lips.Sir John, L’Oréal Paris celebrity makeup artist, offers: "Matte, blue-based berry is my favorite lip color for fall because it not only helps brighten your smile and make your teeth look really white, but the matte finish makes your lips look fuller. L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss has some great berry shades that any girl can rock. Also, I love to break out a cat eye with a berry lip. This is such an easy look to embrace for fall..."

5.) Dior Rouge Dior Couture Colour : There’s Rouge Dior’s new Couture Colour, which renders the lip a plush matte for 16 hours in one of the house’s iconic reds, or a rather unorthodox navy. Since,I love the red color,I am going to cash on that.

So,this is only a part of my beauty haul and I will post the rest tomorrow. The links to the products are below if you wish to buy them yourselves ! Happy shopping!
